Electronic Prescriptions - A new way to get your medicines.
The NHS has introduced the Electronic Prescription Service which gives you the option to ‘nominate’ the place you choose to get your medication from so that they can receive your prescriptions electronically. This could save you a trip to your GP practice just to collect a prescription form - particularly if you have regular prescriptions.
To register for this service, visit the pharmacy you wish to nominate to receive your e-prescriptions. Alternatively, come to the surgery and pick-up a consent form to take to your nominated pharmacy.
Named Accountable GP
From the 1st April 2015, all practices are required to inform their patients of their Named Accountable GP. This is part of the GMS contract change for 2015 - 2016 that was agreed between BMA's General Practitioners Committee and NHS Employers.
Although every patient now has a Named Accountable GP allotted to them, you can still book an appointment with any doctor of your choice. If you would like to know who your Named Accountable GP is and you receive repeat prescriptions, it can be found on the prescription counterfoil. Alternatively, please ask any member of staff who will be able to advise you.

Then STOP taking the medicines listed here. Restart when you are well (after 24-48 hours of eating and drinking normally). If you are in any doubt, please contact us or your pharmacist.
Data Sharing with the Health and Social Care Information Centre
Confidential information from your medical records can be used by the NHS to improve the services offered so we can provide the best possible care for everyone. This information along with your postcode and NHS number but not your name, are sent to a secure system where it can be linked with other health information. This allows those planning NHS services or carrying out medical research to use information from different parts of the NHS in a way which does not identify you. You have a choice. If you are happy for your information to be used in this way you do not have to do anything. If you have any concerns or wish to prevent this from happening, please speak to practice staff or ask at reception for a copy of the leaflet “How information about you helps us to provide better care”.
Summary Care Records (SCR)
The NHS is improving the way your health information is stored & managed through the introduction of the Summary Care Record (a secure electronic record). It will hold limited essential information derived initially from your GP records, including medication, adverse reactions & allergies and significant medical history.
The benefits are improved information flow between patient & staff, and better treatment in emergencies & out-of-hours.
